An international non-political service organization, Hakone Lions Club, donated 130 yellow hats for first grade in elementary schools and kindergartens in Hakone, March 1st.
It is very common for first grade wear yellow cap in Japan for a long time, since it is so visible to drivers.
A chairman and members of the club visited Hakone town mayor, Hiroyuki Katsumata, and gave him an inventory of their donations. The chairman said, "A yellow hat is easy to see for drivers and can work for avoiding car accidents. Please give the hats to school kids". The town mayor told, "It is important to corporate with many people for protecting school kids. I am grateful for your donation".
