An organization in Yugawara town, Doi-kai, that honors the achievements of Doi Sanehira, who is well-known as a hero helped Minamoto no Yoritomo in 1180, cerebrated their 90th anniversary in Yugawara town, October 24th.
Minamoto no Yoritomo is the founder of Kamakura Shougunate in the end of 12th century. After Yoritomo and his army were defeated by Heike army at the battle of Ishibashiyama in 1180, Sanehira helped Yoritomo escape and protected him.
Doi-kai was established in 1930 to commemorate the 750the anniversary of the battle of Ishibashiyama. Doi-kai members fully cooperate in project such as annual Samurai parade held in Yugawara town.
Many members and some guests including the Mayor of Yugawara town, Yukihiro Tomita, gathered in the 90th anniversary ceremony. The chairman of Doi-kai said, "We could continue our organization such a long time because of many people's help. I would like to pass on the historical studies of our predecessors to future generation."
