A traditional annual festival that is National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property in Manazuru, Kibune matsuri, was held at July 27th and 28th. On both west and east side of Manazuru harbor, two big wooden ships which were beautifully decorated were exhibited. These ships are usually decorated every year and floated on the sea, but since 2020, the ships had not been decorated due to its age. So they had been refurbished, and this was for the first time in 3 years to see the glittering ships.
Many people who are from inside and outside of Manazuru town came and enjoyed seeing the ships. A man with his family from Odawara city said, "It is so beautiful as the same as before! I couldn't see the ships floating on the sea this year so I hope to see them crossing the sea next year".
In Kibune matsuri, Mikoshi that is a portable shrine is usually carried by locul volunteers, and the volunteers walk around the town for wishing many people good health and good future, but this year Mikoshi was put on a truck and went around the town. Some residents of the town said, "Although the way is different this year, we are very glad that Mikoshi came to us".
