A violinist with cerebral palsy donated books to children in Odawara

A musician living in Odawara, Mr. Mizuki Shikimachi, 24, is well known as a professional violinist with cerebral palsy. When he was 3 years old, a doctor diagnosed him with cerebral palsy. His mother, Keiko Shikimachi, had got shocked about it, but decided to let him learn the violin as his rehabilitation.

 

His life and music have attracted many people including artists. One of the comic artists have got so much interests in Mizuki's life, and she published comics with a main character modeled after Mizuki. Also, his mother, Keiko, published her book about her son's life and her experiences.

 

In September 2021, he donated the comics and Keiko's books to All of 25 elementary schools and 11 junior high schools in Odawara. He said, "This book also described my experience of being bullied in school. I hope that every students understand that we should stop bulling anyone with reading this book".

 

Mizuki gave an inventory to the Odawara mayor, Mr. Teruhiko Moriya, at September 20th in a new music hall, Odawara Sannomaru Hall. After that, he played his violin with Odawara junior string ensemble in front of 650 audiences.
