Students wearing pink cloths
Students in second grade of Chiyo junior high school in Odawara expressed their will to stop bullying by wearing pink clothes on February 24th. It is called "Pink shirt day" and is well-known as a global action which started in Canada.
It is their first time to take an action of Pink shirt day. For starting this action, one of their teachers, Nanae Yamada, introduced her students to the world wide action of Pink shirt day and its history. Many students got interested in this action because they have hated bullying. Then they started planning what they could and tried to spread their plans to all students of second grade.
As the result, on February 24th, some students handed pink clothes,１ｍ long and 10 cm wide, to not only each second grade students, but many teachers and administration staffs. Most of them enjoyed wearing the cloth. Some of them wore it on their head, neck and arm for all day long.
A student, Wataru Honda, said "It is important to show your will if you want to do something. We hope no bullying happens in the world anymore."
